Dusky talks about their roots with Consequence of Sound

Despite most of dance music’s sounds being born stateside, very few would argue against Europe’s claim of a more mature scene — not to be confused with a more mature audience, though, as plenty of 14-year-olds are still bopping around clubland in Berlin, Brussels, and Amsterdam. However, what is more mature certainly isn’t always better. As revealed by Alfie Granger-Howell and Nick Harriman (collectively known as London-based production duo Dusky), it’s the American audience that is reaching into the underground to discover that next massive international main stage talent. With influences ranging from ‘90s rave to jazz, the pair’s take on deep house became a favorite both on Beatport and on tech-house dance floors from Ibiza to the Bay Area. But the accolades mean little for the twentysomethings, who would rather be spinning for four consecutive hours during one of their coveted Dusky Presents club nights than pandering for Best DJ votes.
